Pastor Rick

Rick Fancher was born a long, long time ago in a place far, far away.  Seriously, he was born in Evansville, IN and grew up nearby near Abraham Lincoln's childhood home.  However, despite being tall and having facial hair like Abe, he has never lived in a log cabin, and has no aspirations of being President of the United States (although he would be willing to serve if elected).

Rick considers Gastonia, NC to be his home town (his mother and his brother & family hail from there).  His wife Rhonda is a 4th Grade teacher at John Glenn Edwards Elementary in Sanford and she married Rick almost 16 years ago.  Abigail Grace (Abby) is 9, is a 5th Grader and almost all the time her father's (and mother's) joy.

Rick's passion is to seek God's Heart and to obey His voice.  His call and mission is to "prepare God's people for works of service so that the Body of Christ may be built up... and become mature attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." (Eph 4:12-13)

Rick has spent about 17 years as pastor, youth pastor, music pastor, discipleship pastor, doing disaster relief, teaching Christian school, or actually frequently doing a combination of several of those roles at the same time.  He sees his primary focus as essentially to do and be whatever God wants him to do, wherever God tells his family and him to go.

In August, 2008, "the Path" brought him to Spout Springs Church to be Connections Pastor, the guy who leads our Connection Groups and focuses on helping people Connect with Others and with the person God created them to be.

Rick is an avid reader (biographies, historical fiction and spiritual growth books), fitness "nut", backpacker/camper, acoustic guitarist (weapon of choice is a 1996 Taylor K-20 cutaway acoustic electric),  and "24" fan.
